Reflect on our analysis of the Persepolis and complete one of the levels below. Please take this weekend to work on the below activities and turn in this HW on Monday!

Give an Inaugural Address Pretend that you have been elected President of the United States. Now is your time to shine as America’s latest leader! You are going to give an inauguration speech in front of the whole country. Follow the steps below to write your speech.

Step 1. Brainstorm! An inauguration speech is your chance to tell the country what you plan to do during the four years of your presidency. Make a list of things you would do if you were President. For example, do you want to improve education and other social programs? Give money to artists? Preserve national parks and save endangered species? Be creative!

Step 2. Write your introductory statement. This is the first sentence in your opening paragraph. It should state the main idea of your speech, and grab the listener’s attention. (Example: During the next four years of my presidency, Americans can expect some exciting changes in this country!) Step 3. Write the rest of your opening paragraph. After your introductory statement, briefly mention each of the points you will be discussing in your speech. These points are the three ideas you circled in Step 1.
